Why can’t I be happy?

I can’t tell you for sure why you are suffering from depression as the causes and types vary greatly person – person, however, Here are a few suggestions that work for me…


(1) Go out of your way to do something really nice for someone else whenever you possibly can but do not expect to get anything back in return… and do it with a sincere smile. You would be suprised at how good it feels to do random acts of kindness and how contagious a smile is.


(2) Don’t sweat the small stuff. So what if some jerk pulled out in front of you in traffic or the fast food joint you stopped at didn’t put ketchup in your bag… are either of those things really worth getting so upset about that they ruin the next 20 minutes of your day?


(3) Learn to laugh at yourself. Don’t be afraid to be a little strange every now and then. Do something silly that is out of your character just to make someone laugh.


(4) Love yourself. Find qualities about yourself that you really like and accentuate them every way you can.


(5) Surround yourself with positive people whenever you can.


(6) Try to identify the things that bring you down and get rid of them or replace them with something else.


(7) Be a really good friend. Be someone that people can count on. It feels good to know that you are being the best person you can be to the people you care about.
